Okpebholo Remembers Late Former I-G Arase: A True Son of Edo
By: Oluwaseun Lawal
It’s a sad moment. Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo has paid tribute to Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, the former Inspector-General of Police, who passed away over the weekend.
Okpebholo called him a distinguished son of Edo and a proud Nigerian. A man whose legacy—service, professionalism, and dedication to national security—will live on for generations.
Arase wasn’t just any I-G. He was Nigeria’s 18th, known widely for pushing reforms in community policing and criminal justice. His work changed the game.
The governor’s message came through a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, on Sunday in Benin. Okpebholo described Arase as a man of integrity and honor, someone who climbed to the top through hard work and dedication.
He said Arase’s career was marked by real commitment—reforms, professionalism, and a focus on community policing that inspired many young officers and leaders.
Okpebholo prayed for peace for Arase’s soul and strength for his family to bear this huge loss. He also found comfort knowing Arase lived a life full of purpose, touching many lives positively.
“His contributions to the Nigeria Police Force and the country’s security will be remembered for a long time,” the governor said. “His legacy will keep inspiring many.”
A life well lived. A legacy that won’t be forgotten.
