Simi’s ‘Duduke’ Goes Gold in New Zealand — A Song, A Baby, A Full Circle

It’s been a while since Duduke first hit our hearts — that soft melody, that gentle hum. Now, it’s flying again. This time, all the way to New Zealand.
Simi, or Simisola Kosoko if you like the full name, just bagged her first-ever foreign certification. Duduke has gone Gold after selling 15,000 units there. Yeah, her first international milestone. Not bad for a song born out of love and lullabies.
She dropped Duduke in 2022. It wasn’t just a song, it was a heartbeat — literally. Simi’s heart beating for her unborn child. The video? She showed her baby bump proudly, glowing and free. Fans felt that emotion, so much that she started the Duduke Challenge. Everyone wanted to be part of it — dancing, lip-syncing, showing their own stories.
Years later, the song still lives. And it’s funny — people now call her daughter, Adejare, “Duduke.” Simi laughs about it sometimes. “It’s fine,” she once said. “But I prefer they call her by her real name.”
It’s more than just Gold certification. Duduke has become something timeless — a mother’s song that grew into the world, found its own legs, and now, its own award.
