Chukwueze’s Brace Not Enough—”Crazy Game,” He Says, Now Demanding More

Five-four. You read that right.

Samuel Chukwueze came off the bench Tuesday and scored two. Two goals against Manchester City. The Nigerian international almost pulled off a miracle at Craven Cottage. Almost.

“It was a crazy game,” he said in the tunnel after. “I like the spirit of the team, almost coming back.”

His teammates, Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe, they scored too. Three goals for Fulham. Should’ve been a celebration. Wasn’t.

Chukwueze is urging everyone to move on now. Keep heads up, he telling them. Difficult to swallow, sure. But what choice you got?

“We believed,” he said. Past tense. Important distinction.

Crystal Palace coming up this weekend. Chukwueze will be hoping—no, demanding—his teammates follow his example. He showed the way. Even in a loss. Especially in a loss.

Sometimes two goals just isn’t enough.
