‘It’s a Family Affair’ — Siminalayi Fubara Asks Rivers Voters to Back All Progressives Congress in Bye-Elections

It wasn’t a fiery rally. No dramatic slogans. Just a calm message from Government House in Port Harcourt.
Siminalayi Fubara has called on residents of Rivers State to throw their weight behind candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming bye-elections. The polls are scheduled to hold in two state constituencies — Ahoada East and Khana local government areas.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor urged eligible voters not to sit this one out. Come out. Participate. Vote.
He described the exercise as a “family election,” suggesting there should be no bitterness or tension around it. According to him, this is not the time for rancour or unnecessary acrimony.
“Everybody should remain law-abiding,” he said, stressing that peace must be maintained throughout the process. No disruptions. No drama.
The tone was measured, almost reassuring. The message, however, was clear — support the APC candidates and keep things orderly.
In Rivers politics, even a calm statement can carry weight. And this one, many will say, does.
