Eid-ul-Fitr: FG declares Thursday, Friday as public holidays

Eid-ul-Fitr is finally here! The Federal Government has officially declared Thursday, March 19th and Friday, Thursday morning breaks with Eid-ul-Fitr arriving at last. A notice from the Federal Government confirms two days off for everyone. March 19th stands as the first holiday, right after Ramadan ends. Then comes March 20th, Friday, added without delay. Together they form a brief pause written into calendars nationwide.

Fine then. Tuck that ticking thing into a drawer now.

Tuesday brought word from Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior. All praise goes to every Muslim who made it through Ramadan fasting. That kind of effort deserves respect, truly.

Even after the last fast ends, carry forward what mattered most. The minister said so in a note stamped by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, permanent secretary. Kindness doesn’t need a calendar, neither does calm. With each gesture, make space for giving, for listening. When days stretch long again, let quiet care stay part of how things are.

Now here’s a thought – maybe spend this time on your knees, asking for calm, togetherness, and better days ahead, he suggested to people across Nigeria. Truth is, things have been shaky lately. His words: seek peace, find common ground, build something that lasts.

“Enjoy it,” he said, though with care. Still – remember those who have less. Pass kindness along when possible.

Wrapped things up using the standard line on building national harmony. Heard it all already.

Still, a couple of days free. Take it slow.
