APC Shettima Welcomes Zamfara Governor Tuesday

Let’s skip the fluff and get straight to it.
Vice President Kashim Shettima’s got a big moment coming up. On Tuesday, he’s officially welcoming Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal into the All Progressives Congress (APC). Yep, it’s happening. And trust me, this isn’t just another political photo-op.
Governor Lawal? He just ditched the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Took his deputy, cabinet members, and heaps of supporters with him. Didn’t even wait to get back from Saudi Arabia. Announced the whole thing through his Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni. Why? He blamed the PDP’s never-ending internal drama. Too messy, he said.
Zamfara’s already prepping for the big day. They set up a special committee—chaired by that same Deputy Governor Mummuni—to make sure everything runs smooth. Mix of Lawal’s crew and old-school APC members. They’re working together, trying to keep things friendly.
Suleman Ahmad Tudu, the Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the State Secretary, dropped a statement. Said Shettima’s gonna formally pull Lawal into the APC fold in what they’re calling a “grand occasion.” The committee’s got two jobs: make sure nobody feels left out, and merge everyone into the party without the usual hiccups.
Mummuni, while kicking off the committee, told members to keep it real. No games. Just sincerity. He stressed Lawal’s big on fairness—for all members.
Then Zamfara APC Chairman Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani stepped in. Told supporters to roll with the changes. Said the state’s now one big “progressive family.” Simple as that.
Oh, and the numbers? They don’t lie. Since Lawal jumped ship, the APC in Zamfara gained around 210,539 new members. Not bad, right? Adds to the 97,710 they already had. So total membership? 308,539. Lawal’s grassroots pull? Strong. Real strong.
Bottom line? This isn’t just about one governor switching sides. It’s about reshaping the game in Zamfara. And Tuesday’s event? It’s where the rubber meets the road.
