Pastor Adeboye Predicts His Own Peaceful Passing—On a Sunday, After Church and Pounded Yam

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the head of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, shared something personal during the church’s International Convention. He said he sees himself dying peacefully—on a Sunday, right after church service, and after enjoying his favorite meal, pounded yam. No long illness, no pain. Just sudden and calm.

He first spoke about this vision two years ago, and he’s repeating it now to comfort believers. Death, he says, doesn’t always come with suffering. It can be peaceful for those who trust in Christ.

But that wasn’t all. In his sermon titled “Possess Your Possessions,” Adeboye urged Christians to actively claim their blessings. He reminded everyone that sometimes, you gotta fight for what’s already yours. Healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, long life—these aren’t just gifts handed out freely. There’s spiritual opposition, and believers must stand firm.

He said, “Jesus paid a huge price for your healing, but there’s a thief trying to steal it.” And on prosperity, he was clear: “God owns everything, silver and gold included. You’re not meant to be poor. If you want to stay poor, you will.”

He also called out the double standards some Christians face. “Make it, and they criticize you. Die poor, and they ask, ‘Where’s your God?’”

Using stories from the Bible—Rachel, Hannah, Jacob—he encouraged believers to stop tolerating sickness, poverty, barrenness, or premature death. “Fight to possess your possessions,” he said. It’s not just a suggestion; it’s a spiritual duty, made possible by Christ’s sacrifice.

So, Pastor Adeboye’s message was clear: live boldly, fight spiritually, and when your time comes, may it be as peaceful as he envisions—on a Sunday, after church, with pounded yam on your plate.
