Abia Community Donates ₦100m for Governor Otti’s Re-election Bid in 2027

Ukwa La Ngwa people just dropped ₦100m for Abia Governor Alex Otti’s re-election form. The event in Aba was massive. Read what Otti promised them.
The stadium was packed. Friday afternoon in Aba, and you could feel the energy from miles away. People were still entering when the program started. Some stood outside just to listen.
Ukwa La Ngwa people came out in full force. They didn’t just come to dance or clap or wear matching fabrics. They put their money where their mouth is. ₦100 million. Cash. For Governor Alex Otti’s re-election nomination form. Yeah, you read that right. One hundred million naira, raised within their community.
Njoku Ukoha, the Chief Press Secretary, made it official on Saturday. He put out the statement. But everyone who was at Enyimba International Stadium on Friday already knew the vibe. You couldn’t miss it. The announcement came right there during the grand civic reception. It was loud and clear and met with thunderous applause.
Emmanuel Emeruwa stood up to speak. He’s the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, and he chairs the Steering Committee for this whole reception thing. He told the excited crowd they raised it collectively, pooling resources from different quarters. “And if we need more, we will contribute more,” he promised. Simple as that. No hesitation.
Otti took the microphone looking visibly moved. You could tell he wasn’t expecting the sheer size of that crowd. “The mammoth crowd was intimidating,” he admitted with a slight smile. He thanked them over and over. For the endorsement. For the support. For just showing up when they could have stayed home watching football.
But he didn’t stop at thank you’s. That ain’t his style.
“This is your government,” he told them bluntly. Not some cabal. Not some party elite sitting in Abuja. Their government. He promised that their interest comes first, always, no matter what. “This is not about party or partisan celebration,” he added firmly. And you could see people nodding in agreement. They believe him. At least for now.
Then he dropped some concrete news about projects. Ovom Road? Getting commissioned on February 25. Same exact day, they’re flagging off the reconstruction of Enyimba Hotel. But this ain’t no regular renovation job. Radisson Blu is handling it. A proper five-star facility. And Otti wasn’t mincing words about timelines or playing games.
“Our style is not to flag off and go home,” he stressed. He wants that hotel actually working by next year. Not just another abandoned white elephant project gathering dust and weeds like we’ve seen too many times before.
Then he got serious about PVCs. Look, he told them, the population of Aba is ten times the actual votes that come from there. Ten times. That gap is too wide. “The only way to show your strength is to get people to come out and register,” he urged passionately. He also told them to take ownership of security and cleanliness in their own neighborhoods. Basic stuff, but important for community living.
Now here’s where it gets really interesting. Senator Adolphus Wabara showed up. He’s the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Peoples Democratic Party. PDP. But here he was, praising a Labour Party governor and sharing the same stage. politics sure makes strange bedfellows, they say, and Abia politics is proving that true.
“This is not a political party rally,” Wabara declared loudly. “It is a people’s verdict.” He called it collective affirmation of the masses. He warned anyone thinking about rigging or manipulation come 2027. “Abians will never again surrender their mandate to any cabal,” he thundered. Any attempt to subvert the will of the people? Will be “firmly resisted.” The crowd roared.
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe was there too. Representing Abia South. Alongside Darlington Nwokocha, the National Secretary of the Labour Party. They both sang Otti’s praises endlessly. Performance across sectors, they kept saying. That’s why the people love him and trust him to continue.
Chief Theo Nkire spoke for the Ukwa La Ngwa people specifically. He didn’t hold back with the compliments. Called Otti “a great achiever.” Said he transformed Aba into “a world-class industrial hub.” Big words, maybe, but the crowd cheered like they believed every syllable.
Traditional rulers from the area pledged their support too, one after another. Cultural displays were everywhere, colorful and vibrant. Ginger Onwusibe, who represents Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency, was in the mix. Dignitaries everywhere you looked, from different political backgrounds.
The money is just the beginning, apparently. They’re ready to do more, give more, support more. For Otti, for Abia State, for whatever comes next in the 2027 elections.
One thing’s clear though. The Ukwa La Ngwa people have chosen their side early. And they put ₦100 million naira right on that bet. That speaks louder than any speech ever could.
