ADC Left Hanging as Atiku, Obi Keep Everyone Guessing for 2027

It’s getting close to 2027, and the African Democratic Congress? Well, they’re kind of stuck. Everyone’s waiting—Atiku, Obi, all those big names. But nobody’s making a move. The party’s just hanging in the balance, not sure which way things will go.
Inside the ADC, people are restless. Some say they’re worried, others pretend it’s all fine. But let’s be real, the party’s not picking up steam like they hoped. Atiku left PDP a while back, but he hasn’t joined ADC. Obi? Same story. He’s still indecisive, even as his previous Labour party, is deteriorating. It’s just like everyone is patiently waiting for the first move from someone else.
There’s more. INEC hasn’t even fully recognised David Mark as the party’s leader. That’s a big deal. Legal battles, money problems, all of it just slowing things down. Some folks inside the party say if Atiku and Obi had joined by now, things would look way different. More people, more money, more energy. But right now? It’s just quiet. Too quiet.
The coalition tried to make a splash back in March. Several meetings in Abuja, constant talk about unity and winning Tinubu in 2027. Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai, Amaechi—they all showed up, said the right things. But signing up is still the major issue and nothing yet. The party’s waiting, and so are a lot of Nigerians.
Some party leaders are still hopeful. They say ADC is strong, that it’s the only real alternative to APC. But even they admit, without those big names, it’s tough. People want to see action, not just promises. And with INEC dragging its feet and court cases piling up, it’s hard to keep the momentum.
Atiku’s camp says he’s still with the coalition, just taking his time. “It’s a process,” his aide says. Obi’s side? Not much to say—calls went unanswered. Everything’s fine, the party’s spokesman insisted that both men are still with them, just not officially. But you can hear the uncertainty in his voice, even if he won’t admit it.
ADC is hanging for now. Everyone’s watching, waiting for Atiku or Obi to make a move. Maybe then things will finally start rolling. But until that happens, the party’s just stuck—hoping, planning, but not really moving. That’s politics, sometimes. Just a waiting game.
