Atiku’s Sons: ADC Runs Aground as Brothers Battle for Same Seat

By: Abudu Olalekan

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa is currently on fire, and it’s not from external enemies. It’s a full-blown family war. The sons of former VP Atiku Abubakar are tearing the party apart, and honestly? It’s getting messy.

It’s happening again.

You’d think political parties would learn, but no. Inside the ADC in Adamawa, things are boiling over. Why? Because two of Atiku’s sons—Adamu and Mohammed—suddenly want the same thing.

The seat? Jada, Ganye, Toungo, and Mayo-Belwa Federal Constituency.

And just like that, the party is splitting in two. Insiders told Reportersroom that it’s a full-blown power struggle. You have camps forming, people polarising, and the state chairman, Shehu Yohanna, must be sweating buckets right now. Even the transitional committee led by Barr. Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin is losing control.

“Deeply damaging,” one source called it. And the worst part? Everyone knows both sides are being funded by the Atiku boys themselves. It’s not even subtle.

“These groups aren’t acting alone,” a source spilled. “They are backed and controlled by powerful interests in the Atiku family.”

Translation: Who has the biggest wallet wins.

The Plot Twist That Changes Everything

But wait, it gets juicier.

This fight has taken a weird turn. Both factions are now accusing the Dasin-led committee of… wait for it… sabotaging Atiku’s presidential ambition.

Let that sink in.

It’s basically blackmail. “Support us, or we’ll say you’re fighting Daddy.” Insiders say the claim is baseless, but it’s working. It’s discrediting the leadership.

And the damage? It’s real.

Big men are jumping ship. Babachir David Lawal, who used to be a regular at Atiku’s house for strategy meetings? He’s distanced himself. Gone.

And Abdulaziz Nyako? The guy defected to ADC not too long ago? He’s already thinking of crawling back to APC. He doesn’t want to be caught in this crossfire. Can you blame him?

“Family Balloting”? Are We Serious?

Here’s the part that made me laugh.

Reports say the Atiku family is planning an internal “family balloting” to decide which son gets the ticket.

A what now?

So they’re going to vote in the living room? It’s ridiculous. Party stakeholders are scared it’s too late though. The trust is gone.

One insider put it bluntly: “The party in Adamawa is being run as a family affair.”

And honestly, he’s right. Word on the street is that Atiku Sr. has stopped funding the party directly. Now, the money is flowing through his kids. They are literally privatising the structure.

As 2027 draws closer, the ADC in Adamawa is facing implosion. Unless something crazy happens—and fast—this party is about to collapse from the inside out.
