Awujale Stool Crisis – K1 De Ultimate Declares Nomination “Null and Void”

By: Abudu Olalekan

K1 De Ultimate’s not happy.

Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya just dropped a bomb. Said the Fusengbuwa Ruling House’s nomination for the Awujale stool? Null and void.

Yeah. He meant it.

In a letter dated January 14, 2026—signed by his lawyer, Wahab Shittu, SAN—K1 called out the process. Said he and other eligible candidates got locked out. No invite. No say.

“We were shut out,” the letter said. “That meeting? It wasn’t fair. Wasn’t legal.”

K1, who’s also the Olori Omooba of Akile Ijebu, wants a do-over. A fresh, open, transparent nomination. And this time? Everyone must be included—especially him.

He’s not just a musician. He’s a recognized member of the ruling house. And he’s running for Awujale.

The petition says this isn’t new. K1 sent one back on December 23, 2025. Then another. Warned about illegal moves. But nothing changed.

The January 12 meeting? Held without him. Without others too. Security was there. But not fairness.

“That’s not how it works,” K1 said. “The law’s clear.”

He pointed to the Obas and Chiefs Law of Ogun State, 2021. Section 16(1)(f) says the ruling house must nominate at a meeting and send names to kingmakers.

But they didn’t.

Instead, they used a “delegate system.” No notice. No debate. Just… done.

“That’s illegal,” K1 argued. “Breaches natural justice. Breaches the Constitution. Breaches the law.”

He said the whole process is flawed. Unjust. Can’t stand.

“The Awujale stool is sacred,” he said. “It deserves better than this.”

K1’s asking Governor Dapo Abiodun—through the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner—to step in. To cancel the sham. To order a new, honest process.

This isn’t just about politics. It’s about respect. Tradition. Doing things right.

And K1? He’s not backing down.
