Bandit Attacks Surge: PDP Slams Kwara Governor’s “Failure”

By: Abudu Olalekan

Dawn broke over Oke-Ode with gunfire, not roosters.

Blood on the streets. Vigilantes dead. The Baale of Ogbayo—gone. Last Sunday’s attack turned the quiet town into a nightmare. And the PDP? Furious.

“The governor’s asleep at the wheel,” said Olusegun Adewara, the party’s mouthpiece. “Kwara’s burning. Under AbdulRazaq, bandits run wild. Kidnappers own villages. Nowhere’s safe.”

The attack’s gruesome videos are everywhere. Bodies in the mud. Wailing families. The PDP’s blasting it as “leadership failure.” Big time.

See, the governor didn’t even visit Oke-Ode. No commiseration. No promises. Just silence. “A real leader’d show up,” Adewara scoffed. “Not hide.”

But here’s the twist: The PDP claims funds meant for security are vanishing elsewhere. “He’s splurging on footballers and entertainers outside Kwara,” they allege. “While our vigilantes battle with sticks and prayers.”

And it’s not just Oke-Ode. Kwara North’s a hotbed. Edu, Patigi, Moro, Ifelodun LGAs—all hit. Markets shut. Farms abandoned. A pharmacist killed in Patigi. A driver murdered at Esanti. Chaos.

The Nupe Descendants Union (NDU) is screaming too. “Our people can’t sleep,” said President Shuaibu Mohammed. “Lives lost. Farms idle. Roads? Death traps.”

Ah, the roads. The Patigi–Gbugbu–Lafiagi road’s a mess. Potholes. Bushes. Perfect for bandits to strike and vanish.

So, what’s next? The PDP wants action. The NDU wants better security. More patrols. Intelligence. And the governor? He needs to hit the ground.

But AbdulRazaq’s camp? No comment yet.

Meanwhile, locals are scared. “We’re trapped,” said a farmer (name withheld). “Can’t farm. Can’t trade. Governor’s MIA.”

The PDP’s NDC 3.0 plan? Not here. It’s about survival.
