Enugu Police Nab Suspected Trafficker, Save Two Teenage Girls from Ghana Trip Gone Wrong

It was supposed to be a chance at a better life. At least, that’s what they were told.
But on July 30, 2025, somewhere along the busy Enugu–Onitsha Expressway, the story changed.
Police stopped a vehicle. Inside—two teenage girls. Scared. Silent. And a man they say had promised them jobs in Ghana.
His name? Raymond Wonna. Age 30. The police say he wasn’t just giving them a ride. They believe he was part of something bigger—transnational human trafficking.
The girls, 18-year-old Miracle Ogar and 16-year-old Angela Kingsley, had been taken from Ogoja, Cross River State. The plan? To work in a restaurant in Ghana. The owner—allegedly Wonna’s “baby mama.” None of this was known to their parents.
SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command’s spokesperson, said the suspect kept the girls in a hotel while arranging the trip. Police also believe he tried to rape them during that time.
Thankfully, the girls were rescued before crossing the border. They’re now back home with their families. The man is in custody. And the hunt is on for others in the network.
Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, praised his officers for acting quickly. He reminded the public—stay alert. Report what looks wrong. Human trafficking, he said, will be fought until it’s gone.
