Five years later, Tiwa Savage returns — This One Is Personal

She went quiet for a bit. At least on albums. Now the lights are back on: August 29, a new body of work called “This One Is Personal.” Her first full-length since Celia (2020). Thirteen songs. Lean. Intimate Afrobeats that sits close to the skin—pain, growth, resilience, all braided into her voice. She told fans on X that the features are few on purpose. Less features, more feeling. Skepta shows up.

So does Taves, a rising name. The project was recorded across Nashville, London, and Lagos; three cities, one mood—tell the truth, even if it hurts a bit. She’s been walking a long road these last five years—career shifts, motherhood, finding herself again—and you can hear that weight, and the light after it. It’s not about numbers, she wrote, it’s about connection. Fans already camping under the hashtag #ThisOneIsPersonal, tossing questions, trading guesses, getting pieces of the backstory from her replies. The wait stretched. Then snapped. And now the music comes.
