“I’ll Never Disrespect Them” — Pastor Fatoyinbo Sets the Record Straight on Babalola Comments

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, the Global Senior Pastor of COZA, had to step up and clear the air. There were rumors swirling—claims that he disrespected the family of the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, the founder of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC). Fatoyinbo says, nope, that’s not true.
He found out about the fuss after reading a press release from CAC addressing the comments supposedly made during one of his sermons. And you know what? He actually thanked them for handling it so gracefully. “An exemplary Christian manner,” he called it.
Fatoyinbo didn’t hold back on praising Apostle Babalola either. He called him a “most distinguished father of faith,” whose legacy still shapes Christian groups across Nigeria and beyond. In fact, many churches—including COZA—trace their spiritual roots back to Babalola’s ministry. Fatoyinbo himself says he’s a beneficiary of that legacy.
He made it clear: at no point did he speak ill of the late Apostle’s children. “I would never do that,” he said. The sermon’s raw footage is online for anyone to check. COZA, he reminded, is known worldwide as a place of honor, and he respects the grace over Apostle Babalola and his family deeply.
He also praised the late Apostle’s children, calling them shining examples of faith and vision. “I remain proud of their achievements,” he said.
And then, the apology. If anything he said caused hurt or distress to the CAC, the family, or associates, he’s sorry. “I will never disrespect or speak of them in that manner,” he promised.
He hopes this puts the whole thing to rest. And he prayed for the CAC and Apostle Babalola’s legacy to keep growing strong. Because, at the end of the day, respect and faith go hand in hand.
