Iwobi Clears the Air: “I Never Complained About the Hotel”

It started with a post. Just one photo. No words, no captions — just Alex Iwobi showing a glimpse of where the Super Eagles were staying in Morocco ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Gabon.

And then, boom. The internet ran wild.

People thought he was shading the team’s accommodation — that quiet hotel in Rabat with peeling walls and tired curtains. Some called it embarrassing. Others said, “At least it’s not that bad.” Everyone had an opinion.

Iwobi, though, says it was all a misunderstanding. He never meant to complain. Never even said a thing.

“Are you seeing life?” he wrote later, in that calm-but-playful way fans know him for. “It’s all about perspective. I just snapped the view I had, and suddenly people think we’re ungrateful.”

The Fulham midfielder sounded more amused than angry. He went on, “Brother, I never said one thing. I just looked, that’s all. You see, in life, some people don’t even have yards; some don’t even have beds.”

Simple words. But they hit different.

So, no — Iwobi wasn’t mocking the hotel. He was just… living in a moment. A snapshot that got lost in translation, right before a crucial game.
