‘Losing my son changed everything,’ Davido told ABC News in a recent chat. The Afrobeats star — real name David Adeleke — is still grappling with the pain. His three-year-old son, Ifeanyi, died in 2022 after drowning in a pool at their home in Lagos, Nigeria.

Daily Post reported the tragedy shook Davido to his core. In a raw interview with ABC News’ Rocsi Diaz, he admitted how the loss reshaped his view of life and his music career.

‘Stepping away from my work after Ifeanyi’s death helped me refocus,’ he said. ‘It changed everything.’

He and his wife, Chioma, faced the pain together. Davido proud of how they handled it. ‘I was telling me wife the other day that I’m proud of how we bounced back,’ he shared. Now, they have twins. The babies are big and shouting everywhere, he said.

Many people have approached Davido since then, thanking him for being an example of strength. ‘They tell me my strength inspired them in hard times,’ he noted. ‘We went through a lot but we stood strong. That’s huge for us.’
