Tiger Base Police Crisis: Staff Cry Out Over Dismissal Plot in Imo State

By: Abudu Olalekan

Things are getting really messy in Owerri right now. If you haven’t heard about the “Tiger Base” unit of the Imo State Police Command, well, it has quite the reputation. But this time, the drama isn’t coming from outside. It is coming from within. Some police staff attached to this controversial Anti-Kidnapping Unit are raising a massive alarm. They claim their lives are in danger and there is a secret plot to get them dismissed. And who are they pointing fingers at? Their own boss, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa.

One staff member reached out to Reportersroom on Saturday to share a pretty heartbreaking story. This isn’t just about office politics. It’s about alleged intimidation, humiliation, and a total abuse of power. The staff member, who sounded genuinely terrified, said ACP Odeyeyiwa has been making life a living hell. “I am being humiliated by ACP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa,” the officer stated. It’s a bold claim to make against a superior, especially in the police force where rank is everything.

The whole situation sounds like a bad movie. The officer says they are being falsely accused of working with activists. We are talking about big names like Omoyele Sowore, VeryDarkMan, and Nonso Nkwa. Apparently, the commander thinks this staff member is leaking secrets to bring Tiger Base down. “I have proof,” the staff told Reportersroom. But here is the kicker. The officer claims the real trouble started because they rejected a personal relationship with the commander. Talk about messy. “Because I refuse to go ahead with my relationship with Mr Ola, he has sworn to dismiss me,” the staff alleged.

Then things got dangerous. On October 18, 2025, the officer was suddenly transferred to the Egbema Division. Now, if you know that area, you know it’s a high-risk zone. The officer described it as a death trap. They pleaded for a change, and the commander allegedly told them to “relax” and that he would fix it. But it was a trap. While the officer was waiting for a new posting, someone in the provost’s office leaked some scary news. They said a dismissal letter had already been typed up.

When the officer tried to call the commander, they found out they were blocked. On WhatsApp, the response was cold. The commander allegedly accused them again of trying to get info for VDM or Sowore. It’s wild. Even the commander’s girlfriend is reportedly going around telling people that the officer will be fired soon. In Imo State, people say ACP Odeyeyiwa and the Chief Security Officer, CSP Shaba, are like gods. “No one comes close,” the staff member whispered. Every other cop is supposedly scared of them.

The staff member is now hiding and fearing for their life. They claim to know some very dark secrets about what happens inside Tiger Base. “They are deadly,” the officer said. This person is the breadwinner for their family, and now everything is at risk. It’s a classic case of someone with power allegedly trying to crush a subordinate who wouldn’t play ball.

Reportersroom tried to get in touch with the Imo State Police Command and ACP Odeyeyiwa himself. We also tried to reach CSP Shaba. So far? Total silence. No one is picking up or replying. This silence only makes the allegations feel heavier. In a country where we talk about police reform every day, stories like this show just how far we still have to go. You have to wonder, if the police can’t protect their own from internal bullying, how can they protect the public? It’s a scary thought. For now, the staff at Tiger Base are just hoping someone higher up hears their cry before it’s too late.
