It’s going to be a busy Saturday in Kebbi. President Bola Tinubu is scheduled for a one-day official visit to the state — part inspection, part celebration.

According to a statement from his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President will inaugurate several projects completed by Governor Nasir Idris. Roads, infrastructure, development strides. The kind of things meant to show progress is happening.

But it won’t be all ribbon-cutting.

Tinubu is also expected to take centre stage at the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, where he will attend as Special Guest of Honour. The festival, held at the historic Matan Fada riverside, draws thousands every year — fishermen, tourists, culture enthusiasts. It’s colourful. Loud. Deeply rooted in tradition.

Recognised by UNESCO as part of the world’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, Argungu isn’t just a local gathering; it carries continental weight.

For the Presidency, the trip signals support for both grassroots development and cultural preservation. Governance in the daytime. Culture by the riverside. All in one visit.
