Two Nollywood Crew Members Found Lifeless in Car on Lekki Film Set

It was supposed to be another shoot day. Lights. Camera. Routine.

Instead, it ended in silence.

Two members of a Nollywood production team were found dead inside a parked vehicle at a filming location in Lekki Phase 1. The Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID Yaba, has now taken over the case, describing it as an unnatural death requiring full investigation.

The men were identified as Godstime Imeh — a lighting director and CEO of GeeTee Light — and Walter Odediran, a creative video director widely known as Director Carrinqton. Colleagues say they arrived early that Saturday morning to set up lighting equipment for the production, reportedly directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate, Boma.

By mid-morning, the setup was done. They stepped into Imeh’s tinted Nissan to rest while waiting for the next instruction. Around 11 a.m., breakfast — yam and omelette — was delivered to them. They were seen reclining in the car, air-conditioning running.

Then the calls stopped going through.

By noon, phones rang unanswered. But it wasn’t until later that evening, after filming wrapped, that crew members went to check on them. They were found motionless inside the vehicle.

Walter’s elder brother, Kola Odediran, described the discovery in painful detail. He said his brother, 36 and the last-born of the family, was seated upright with foam around his mouth. Godstime, he said, was slumped, with blood visible from his nose, eyes and mouth. Whatever happened, he believes, happened fast.

The case was first reported at Maroko Police Station before being escalated to SCID Yaba. Police have confirmed that the producer, the food vendor, the staff member who delivered the meal, and hospital management have all been questioned. The food vendor remains in custody.

Investigators are exploring multiple angles. Possible ingestion. Environmental exposure. Mechanical issues. There are reports of heavy-duty generators mounted above the parking area, and authorities are examining whether fumes or carbon monoxide may have played a role. Autopsy and toxicology tests are underway, alongside vehicle inspection and CCTV review.

For now, nothing is ruled out.

Two creatives. Gone in a parked car. And many questions still hanging in the air.
