Atiku: ADC Ready to Send APC Packing

By: Abudu Olalekan

Atiku Abubakar isn’t mincing words.

The former Vice President and ADC presidential hopeful just made it clear — his party is ready to give APC a serious run for its money. Maybe even send them packing entirely.

“ADC has risen,” he posted on X over the weekend. “Nigeria’s true opposition. Strong in ideals, structure, and resolve. Ready to challenge and defeat the failing APC.”

That’s pretty strong language. But here’s what got everyone’s attention — the context.

Atiku met with ADC stakeholders from Adamawa State at his Abuja residence on Saturday. The visit was significant for more than one reason. See, there had been some drama earlier. Supporters of Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (you know her as Binani) kicked up quite a fuss after party congresses in the state. They weren’t happy about Sadiq Dasin being returned as state party chairman.

So yeah, the meeting had layers.

But here’s what Atiku emphasized: unity. Simple word, but apparently not so simple to practice.

“Unity is now their sacred duty,” he told the new state leadership. “Heal divisions. Carry everyone along. Lead with fairness.”

Among those who showed up? Babachir David Lawal — yeah, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation. That’s not a small name in ADC circles.

The message is clear: ADC is positioning itself as the alternative. Whether that translates to votes come election time? That’s a whole different story.

One thing’s for sure — the political temperature in Adamawa just went up a few degrees.
