Chelsea’s World Champ Glow vs Palace’s FA Cup Fury – Who’s Smoking Who Today?
By: Olalekan Abudu
Finally. Chelsea’s back.
After what feels like forever, the world champions are kicking off their Premier League season at home against Crystal Palace. And let me tell you – Blues fans have got every reason to be excited right now. Their summer transfer business? Chef’s kiss. The pre-season form? Absolutely destroyed Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan. No big deal.
But hold up. Palace aren’t coming to just make up the numbers.
Oliver Glasner’s boys have had a rollercoaster few months since lifting that FA Cup trophy in May. It’s been rough, not gonna lie. Then boom – they go and beat Liverpool in the Community Shield last week. Just like that. Football, eh?
Here’s where it gets spicy. Everyone’s gonna be glued to those team sheets when they drop. Why? Drama, that’s why. Eberechi Eze is basically halfway to Tottenham already, but apparently he’s still in the squad today. Might even play. Wild. And Marc Guehi? Liverpool want him bad, but there he is, probably starting too.
Think about this for a second – both these teams won trophies last year. Both want more. It’s opening day, the atmosphere’s electric, and someones got to lose.
Chelsea should win this at home. They’re world champions after all. But Palace just showed they can beat anyone on their day. That Liverpool result wasn’t a fluke.
Who gets the three points? Who starts their season with a bang? We’re about to find out.
