Kwara just got extra security muscle. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq met senior army commanders this week over the new battalion now in Omu-Aran. That’s Irepodun LGA headquarters.

He put the news out on facebook tuesday. Received the troops with Major General Yakubu Yahaya, GOC 9 Division and Joint Task Force Operation Savannah Shield. Brigadier General Nicholas Rume from 22 Armoured Brigade Ilorin was there too.

This should strengthen things against banditry kidnapping and the rest. Gov and security agencies pushing hard on those threats.

“It was pleasant to welcome the troops to Kwara State. I thank the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, for the swift deployment.

“I am confident that this new deployment will boost our peace and security efforts in the state.”

Another battalion coming for Patigi axis. Team already working tirelessly there to find the new base.

AbdulRazaq thanked President Tinubu for approving the extra deployments. Shows the federal government really paying attention to Kwara.

“We appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces. We are truly grateful to Mr. President for paying special attention to Kwara.

“I also commend the President’s recent approval of increased welfare packages for our soldiers. This is a major thing.

“It will, definitely, go a long way in boosting their morale in the fight against terrorism and other security threats.”

All this followed Tinubu’s July nod for a new army battalion in the state. To intensify the fight against banditry terrorism and violent crimes.

The Omu-Aran unit means more troops and hardware heading to the area plus surrounding communities that need it.

Gov announced the approval earlier through his deputy chief press secretary Mashood Agboola. Called it another sign of commitment to tackling insecurity here.

Patigi deployment will expand army presence and help protect residents. Good move overall.
