IGP PhD Order: Police Commands Told To Submit List of Educated Personnel

The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, just issued a directive that’s got people talking. He’s asking all police commands and formations to submit lists of officers holding doctorate degrees, master’s degrees, or LLB certificates.
The police wireless message came through on September 14, 2026. Marked “Most/Immediate” too—meaning it’s pretty urgent.
“IGP directs, as a matter of urgency, that you forward a list of inspectors/rank-and-file serving under you who are holders of doctorate degrees, master’s degrees or LLB, in addition to their posting signals, on or before 16/09/2026. I repeat, on or before 16/09/2026. Treat as very important.”
Yeah, he really emphasized that deadline.
The message came straight from the Nigeria Police Force Secretary’s Office in Abuja. It was addressed to the AIG Training and Development, Police Colleges, various departments, training institutions, and—all state commands.
Copies went to the IGP’s office and every Commissioner of Police in the country.
So what exactly do they want? Details on inspectors and rank-and-file personnel with those specific qualifications, along with their posting signals.
September 16, 2026. That’s the deadline.
